questions and answers
What is the Northwest Hillsborough Well No. 7
Intertie Project?
The Northwest Hillsborough Well No. 7 Intertie Project is a water pipeline
project in Northwest Hillsborough County that will connect an isolated
drinking water well with the supply line that feeds the Hillsborough
County’s Lake Park Water Treatment Plant.
What is the purpose of the project?
The purpose of this project is to connect an isolated well in Northwest
Hillsborough County to the larger wholesale system in order to increase the
capacity to Hillsborough County’s Lake Park Water Treatment Plant. From
there, the treated water will be distributed to County water customers in
the Northwest Hillsborough area. The project also includes mechanical
updates at the well.
Why is this project needed?
The Northwest Hillsborough Well No. 7 Intertie Project will supply an
additional 4 million gallons per day (mgd) of drinking water to the
residents of Northwest Hillsborough County, including those who live along
the pipeline route. In addition, the project will allow pumping capacity at
the well to be varied, alleviating drawdown affects on the nearby wellfield
and allowing continuous routine operations.
